A Bahrain court sentenced a Filipino to six months in jail and fined him BD1,000 (P115,049) for allegedly blackmailing a Saudi man.
The Bahrain-based news site Gulf Daily News reported on Tuesday the Filipino pretended to be a woman and then tried to extort BD2,000 (P230,098) from the victim.
The records of the Lower Criminal Court showed the Filipino threatened to publish damaging photos of the Saudi man on the Internet if he did not pay up, the report said.
The court documents also showed the Filipino asked the Saudi national to send half the money to an account in Singapore and the other half to one in the Philippines.
In his statement, the victim said he earlier met a Singaporean woman in a hotel and gave her his e-mail.
He later went to her house in Gudaybia where he met another woman who gave him water.
The man lost consciousness after drinking the water but went back to Saudi the next day.
Upon returning to Saudi, he said he received emails containing pictures of him having sex with the second "woman" in the apartment. The second woman turned out to be a man.
The police eventually found the defendant and charged him with blackmail. – VVP, GMA News
