The li'l girl loved to play on a garden. She was as lovely as the flowers can be. Of all the flowers in the garden, she loved the roses. But to her confusion, her Mom won't allow her to get near them.
And she would always ask, "Why can't I touch them Mom? I want to smell them. I want to play with them."
But her Mom would always tell her, "Baby the roses are so pretty. They are meant for you to see.. To look at.."
The li'l girl never understood what her Mom meant. She never knew why she's not allowed to touch them. And with her curious mind, she thought that one day she will be able to touch them, hold them near her heart.. smell them.. play with them.. And she will be most happy.
One day when her Mom was away, the li'l girl thought, "This is the time for me and the roses to be acquainted. "
She ran to the garden.
And she smiled while walking towards them.
She can smell the lovely flowers.
And they looked more lovely as she got closer.
Carried away by the beauty of the flowers,
She grabbed one and felt the thorns,
Cut through her tiny palm.
On an instant, she cried..
Looked at her hand and saw blood.
She screamed at the rose, "I hate you. Why did you hurt me? I won't get near you again.." She ran back to the house and waited for her Mom.
Her Mom found her standing by the window. Looking at the garden. Crying.
Her Mom asked her, "Why is my baby crying?"
The li'l girl pout her lips and said, "Mommy the roses are bad. They are so pretty but they hurt me. I thought they are my friends. You're right Mom, I'll never get near them again."
Her Mom smiled and said, "Baby when I told you not to get near them, I know one day you will. People can't resist the beauty a thing offers. And sometimes, we want to own them.. Hold them with our bare hands, without knowing how to."
The li'l girl looked at her Mom with her eyes full of why's. Her Mom continued, "Dear li'l girl, when you get near the roses you should have at least looked at them first and then you would've noticed the thorns that protects them. And that way you should've known how to pick them without hurting yourself and the roses.."
