A member of the WW.Girls from the TV5 game show "Willing Willie" has decided to leave the show.
April Gustilo, also known by the monicker "Congrats," recently tendered her resignation from the early evening program.
April, who stood by and remained loyal to show host and producer Willie Revillame since he transferred from ABS-CBN to TV5, is giving up show business to pursue her studies, a top executive of the show said.
Jay Montelibano, "Willing Willie" executive producer, confirmed the news to Yahoo! Southeast Asia.
"Yes she has (resigned). She'll pursue her studies. She wants to be an FA (flight attendant) hopefully someday or be able to put up a business," Jay said in a text message.
The producer also said he and Willie support April's decision because they believe in the importance of education. They said April can return to "Willing Willie" anytime.
"Dancing is a life-long career & Willie and I are both happy for her. Nothing beats education. It's one's insurance. We told her (Jay) that our door is always open should she decide to come back."
April, who is famous for his boisterous and lively on-air greeting "congratulations," was discovered when she joined a beauty and fitness contest in "Wowowee." Willie saw her potential and decided to sign her up as a dancer. During Willie's shows, April was always tapped to hand out cash prizes to winning contestants and holler her famous line. She has since been identified as "Congrats" from Willie's bevy of dancers.
TV5 aired an episode of "Star Confessions" last year featuring her life story.
